SSIS Student Earns Perfect Score on AP Exam

SSIS Student Earns Perfect Score on AP Exam
Tanya Olander

SSIS student Kyler Lai earned the maximum score on each portion of the AP Drawing Exam, making her one of only 343 students in the world to reach this incredible accomplishment.

As students around the world have waited with bated breath to receive their AP results, Class of 2022 graduate Kyler Lai received some incredible news recently.

Not only did Kyler receive the highest AP score of 5 for her AP Drawing course, but she received the maximum score on all parts of the art portfolio she submitted to the College Board, putting her result in the top 1% of AP Drawing students worldwide.

SSIS, A Top-Quality Education

“This outstanding accomplishment is likely a direct reflection of the top-quality education being offered at Saigon South International School. We applaud Kyler's hard work and the AP teacher responsible for engaging students and enabling them to excel in a college-level course,” writes Trevor Packer, the Head of the Advanced Placement Program.

And Kyler’s result is indeed as much a testament to hard work as it is a testament to the dedication and passion of our highly-experienced teachers, like AP Art Teacher Nomer Adona. Recognizing and supporting students’ varied interests, teachers and counselors at SSIS work closely with students, encouraging them to reach their highest potential in everything they do.

Supporting Students' Passions

“I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to support Kyler in her pursuits while she was a student at SSIS. She showed great passion for the arts and took many of our performing and visual arts courses, culminating in part with the AP Drawing course,” says High School Principal Jennifer Mendes. "The breadth of our rigorous programs allows students to explore courses that match their passions. Our commitment to supporting students in all of their endeavors and their learning will be further strengthened with the construction of our new STEAM/Design Center.

Congratulations to Kyler and her parents, AP Drawing teacher Mr. Adona, and all the others who made this incredible achievement possible!
