Growth and Impact: The 2024–2025 SSIS Annual Report

Growth and Impact: The 2024–2025 SSIS Annual Report
Tanya Olander

Each year, our Annual Report celebrates the achievements we’ve made together as a school community. As a not-for-profit school, the report also provides a transparent view of how we reinvest tuition to support students through excellent teachers, new programs, and inspiring learning spaces.

Last month’s Head of School Annual Report and Achievement Coffee with Dr. Moran gathered over 100 parents from all divisions. The morning offered a chance to reflect on the past school year and to see how every part of SSIS—from curriculum to campus facilities—continues to grow with purpose.

Expanding Opportunities

The 2024-2025 annual report highlighted the spirit of innovation, which earned SSIS the distinction of Apple Distinguished School, recognizing how technology enhances teaching and learning across all divisions.

Launched this year, the new Architecture and Interior Design program, which is highlighted in the Annual Report.

It also celebrated the introduction of new high school courses that expand academic choice and creativity, including AP Chinese Language and Culture, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Precalculus, AP Physics C, IB Film, and Architecture and Interior Design, opening new pathways that connect analysis, design, and creativity.

Our curious students inspire new course offerings.

In Middle School, additional offerings such as the Leadership Lab, VEX Robotics, Fashion Design, and Digital Media reflected how teacher expertise and student curiosity shape learning. These programs originate directly from our teachers’ ideas and the needs they observe in their classrooms — a testament to the way professional expertise and community investment work hand in hand.

More than 200 educators from around the region participated in the Full STEAM Ahead Conference at SSIS last year.

In the same spirit of innovation, SSIS hosted the Full STEAM Ahead Conference, which drew more than 200 educators from across Asia to our campus. Workshops led by SSIS teachers and guest experts explored robotics, sustainability, and artificial intelligence—topics that continue to shape how students think, design, and collaborate in their own classrooms.

Celebrating Achievement

Our students continued to achieve at the highest levels. The Class of 2025 received offers from top-ranked universities, including UC Berkeley, University College London, the University of Toronto, UPenn, the University of Sydney, KAIST, and the National University of Singapore.

Our university counseling team continues to guide families through an evolving admissions landscape, helping students understand what top universities value — authenticity, curiosity, and personal growth — as well as academic rigor.

All of our students, including the Class of 2025, should be very proud of their achievements.

SSIS students earned the highest IB Diploma average in Ho Chi Minh City (36.8 points) and achieved a record-setting 96% of AP exams with scores of 3 or above—both well above global benchmarks. Behind these results are dedicated students and deeply qualified teachers, 74% of whom hold master’s degrees or higher.

Parents also learned how student achievement continues to grow across grade levels. PSAT results in Grades 9–11 have risen steadily and remain well above global averages, especially in mathematics. In the younger grades, CTP trends show strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, comparable to students in US independent schools. These patterns give a clear picture of the solid academic foundation students build as they move through each division.

New Director of Teaching and Learning, Aimee Fleming, shared many valuable insights from the Annual Report.

Learning at SSIS also extended beyond the classroom. Through our Internship Program, 44 students gained real-world experience with organizations such as MoMo, Porsche, Boho Decor, and the American Eye Center. These experiences helped students connect their learning to real-world contexts and build confidence in their own capacity to contribute. We are grateful to the many businesses and organizations that supported our internship program.

Beyond academics, students also excelled in athletics, earning SISAC and MRISA championships across multiple sports, reflecting both school spirit and balance in life.

Spaces That Inspire

A major highlight was the transformation of the former middle school into the new Upper Elementary Building, purposefully redesigned for our younger learners. Bright, flexible classrooms, a new library and drama room, and an entire floor dedicated to STEAM and robotics make it a joyful space for learning and exploration. Students also enjoy a new cafeteria and an air-conditioned swimming pool, both of which are shared by the wider school community.

The newly renovated Upper Elementary is purposefully redesigned for young learners.

Equally inspiring were the ways our community came together. The Parent Teacher Association hosted record-breaking events—Family Fun Day welcomed more than 2,000 participants, and 13 PTA clubs kept parents connected. In High School, 92% of students joined our activities or athletics programs, reflecting the balance and belonging that define daily life at SSIS.

Family Fun Day 2024 welcomed a record-breaking 2,000+ people (a record that was broken again in 2025).

Looking Back, Moving Forward

The Annual Report reflects the continued growth and shared purpose of our school community. It shows how, year after year, SSIS invests in what matters most—our students, their teachers, and the programs that help them thrive.

We thrive when our students thrive, growing with confidence, curiosity, and compassion.

As the only not-for-profit K–12 international school in Ho Chi Minh City, SSIS reinvests all tuition income in support of this purpose: to support exceptional educators, expand learning opportunities, and create spaces that inspire curiosity and creativity. Each improvement, from new courses to redesigned facilities, is made possible by the strength and support of our families and our teachers.

Together, we continue to build an environment where students grow with confidence, curiosity, and compassion. The 2024–2025 Annual Report celebrates these achievements and the community that makes them possible, offering a closer look at how our shared investment continues to shape learning at SSIS.
