Student Life

Our school-wide wellness program helps students develop essential social-emotional skills like effective communication, empathy, respect for others, community service, and social problem-solving.

In order to thrive and go on to live purposeful lives as global citizens, students must develop personally, emotionally and socially. Our school-wide wellness program is centered on the belief that all community members can flourish, and that:

  • programs should be informed by the science of wellbeing
  • a strengths-based approach promotes and encourages growth
  • wellbeing can be learned, developed, and fostered
  • programs must adapt to meet the changing needs of the community

Elementary School

Wellness is integrated into the curriculum in elementary school. Students reflect, learn to set goals, and celebrate mistakes.

Students' are instilled with a sense of belonging and feel valued when their individual strengths are recognized.

Middle School

Built on positive psychology, our middle school advisory program helps students develop a growth mindset as they navigate these crucial years.

Students learn to recognize and embrace the importance of well-being and healthy relationships.

High School

All high school students are assigned to a faculty advisor who helps them create a more personalized learning environment and build a sense of community and belonging.

Addressing the critical issues at this time of life, the high school advisory program promotes a sense of meaning and purpose and helps students develop the tools they will need to live healthy independent lives.

Wellness Program Beliefs

The Science of Wellbeing

Our wellness program is based on positive psychology. Positive psychology emphasizes the need to equip people with practices for maintaining mental, social and physical well-being on a daily basis.

A Strengths-Based Approach

Students are more likely to engage deeply with what they learn, experiencing joy and a sense of accomplishment when the positive human qualities that come most naturally to them are nurtured. Those qualities are known as “character strengths.”

Identifying and supporting each child’s character strengths is foundational to our wellness program.

Developing Wellbeing

Wellbeing practices are crucial to human development. We believe that when fostered and nurtured, individuals can develop an authentic sense of wellbeing so that they may go on to flourish and thrive independently and with others.

Adapting to Our Community's Needs

To best serve our community, we continually evaluate and adjust our wellness program to ensure we are meeting the changing needs of our community's members.
