Dear Elementary School Parents,

At SSIS, we always look for ways to keep our students comfortable and ready for their active, hands-on school days. Therefore, we will gradually transition to a simpler elementary uniform over the next two school years.

What Is Changing?

Early Childhood – Grade 3: Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, EC - Grade 3 students will only need to wear the new lightweight, breathable multi-colored PE shirt instead of alternating between two different shirts. For concerts only, students will wear the white short-sleeved performance shirt. This change will simplify daily choices, reduce the number of shirts needed, and ensure our active little ones stay cool, dry, and comfortable.

Grades 4 and 5: In the upper elementary, we will also discontinue the light blue shirt over the next two years, and students may begin using the royal blue uniform shirt to align with the middle and high school as they move into their new dedicated space and take on more independence. Grades 4 & 5 are also encouraged to use the new multi-colored breathable PE shirt, and they will still need the white short-sleeved performance shirt for special events.

What About Current Shirts?

We understand that families have already purchased uniforms, so we will have a two-year transition period. While students may continue to wear their light blue uniform shirts, we will begin to phase them out and transition entirely by the 2027-2028 school year.

Why This Change?

  • Fewer Required Uniform Pieces – This change simplifies uniform shopping by reducing the number of shirts parents need to buy.
  • A Natural Transition for Grades 4 and 5 – Moving to the royal blue shirt connects upper elementary students with middle and high school, reinforcing their sense of progression.
  • Comfort and Practicality – The updated PE shirts are breathable, durable, and easy to care for—ideal for active young learners.
  • Easier for Siblings – Having consistent shirts across broader age groups makes it simpler for families with multiple children.

We appreciate your support in making this transition. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email the ES Office.

Kind regards,

Melanie Sylvester
