Dear SSIS Parents,

In our ongoing commitment to student safety and in response to government directives—Directive 31 and Directive 494—that focus on enhancing traffic safety in our communities, we are implementing important updates to our school’s traffic safety measures.

As part of this initiative, SSIS is holding dedicated traffic safety sessions in each division to further educate our students on safe traffic practices. Please review the following information with your child to help reinforce what they will learn.

Please Use Helmets, It’s the Law

Some students are arriving at and leaving school on motorbikes, bicycles, and ridesharing scooters without helmets. Please remind your child that wearing a helmet is the law (Law on Road Traffic 2008) and is one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injury.

Only Use Designated Pedestrian Crossings

Everyone should use the designated pedestrian crossings when walking to and from school. This simple step can make a big difference in preventing accidents.

Motorbike License Registrations

Beginning this coming school year, 2025-2026, we will require all students driving motorbikes or motorized vehicles over 50cc to have a valid Vietnamese driver’s license. All licenses and number plates will be registered with the school.

Students aged 16 and over are permitted to drive motorbikes and e-bikes up to 50cc without a license.

Students must be 18 years or older and have a valid Vietnamese driver’s license to drive a motorbike or e-bike larger than 50cc.

Students who do not have the correct license for their vehicle will not be allowed to bring these vehicles onto school grounds.

Our shared goal is to keep every student safe. Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact us.

Together, we can make SSIS a safer place for everyone.

Kind regards,

Nicola McNamee
Compliance and Risk Management Officer
