[G6-8] Student-Led Conference Registration Starts Today, March 5

Dear MS Parents/Guardians,

We’re excited for the upcoming Student-Led Conferences (SLC)! They will be held at school, and you and your child will attend together. 

Student-Led Conferences:

• Tuesday, March 17, from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm 
• Your conference will last approximately 45 minutes

Registration is now open! Please book your Student-Led Conference appointment by Sunday, March 15, using this Google Form. 

What Are Student-Led Conferences?

Student-Led Conferences allow your child to speak about their growth and change, identify their accomplishments and struggles, and reflect on their teachers’ feedback. These conferences are an important opportunity for your child to take responsibility for discussing their progress and achievements. 

The discussion at a student-led conference is between the student and the parent. So, although the conference will include information from your child’s teachers, your child will choose what to present as they reflect on their learning together with you. 

You should view your role as your child’s partner, and try to see the school through your child’s eyes. By being encouraging and curious, you can help create a meaningful discussion with your child. 

Attending the conferences is an important opportunity for you to understand how best to support your child in making positive adjustments, if needed, which will affect their transcript grades at the end of the semester. We urge you not to miss this important opportunity. 

Progress Report and Grades

You will receive your child’s full mid-semester progress report on Friday, March 20. Please keep in mind that mid-semester grades are grades in progress. 

The SSIS Middle School has a 100% attendance goal for student-led conferences. We have met that goal each year and are excited to continue this strong connection between students, parents, and the school.
