[G9] November 18: IB Information Night
Elisia Brodeur
Dear Parents or Guardians of Grade 9 Students,
We would like to invite you to learn more about the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a unique, two-year academic pathway available to students entering Grade 11. You and your child are invited to this important information session on Tuesday, November 18, at 6:00 pm in the Blackbox Theater (MS Building), to gain a better understanding of the IB Diploma at SSIS.
During the recent Academic Pathways Presentation, Grade 9 families were introduced to the three main academic programs offered in high school - AP, IB, and SSIS courses. This session will provide an in-depth overview of the IB Diploma Programme, offering students and parents a closer look at its structure and philosophy. The IB Programme emphasizes research, critical thinking, and self-management skills with a variety of assessment types to support student learning. We will explain the IB Core and provide additional details to help parents and students understand this comprehensive academic program.
You will also have an opportunity to hear from IB teachers and IB students who will share their IBDP experiences.
We will provide an updated session this time next year for students in grade 10. However, all Grade 9 families who are interested in exploring the IB Diploma Programme are welcome to attend this session to learn how it can support your child’s future academic journey.
Sincerely,
Dan Smith
High School Principal
