Magnus Health is a secure and encrypted student medical records system. It ensures the highest level of secure storage of centralized medical records. It also allows our school to create tiered access to your child’s sensitive health data, eliminating the need for printed or emailed copies, which are much more vulnerable to the exposure of sensitive information.

Access to Magnus Health is controlled by the SSIS Health Office. Only staff with a direct working relationship with a child, such as school nurses, chaperones, or coaches can view this information. Nurses are the only staff members with access to treatment notes and additional health information. Coaches and chaperones can only access relevant emergency health information to care for a child while traveling off campus. Once they are no longer coaching or chaperoning the child, their access is blocked.

SSIS Sick Policy: Your child must stay at home if they:

• Have a fever of 37.8˚C or higher
• Have 2 or more episodes of vomiting
• Have 2 or more episodes of diarrhea
• Have any flu-like symptoms (sore throat, headache, body aches, or cough)

Note that your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. A full 24 hours must pass since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea before your child is allowed to return to school.

If your child becomes ill during the school day, the nurse will contact you. At that point, you must make immediate arrangements to pick up your child from school.

Yes. The Ministry of Health’s Joint Circular No:13/2016/TTLT-BYT-BGDDT, PART 3 – HEALTH SPECIALTY EXAMINATION requires an annual health check by a physician. The form can be downloaded above (SSIS Physical Examination Form). Please print it and take it to your child's physical exam for the doctor to complete and sign. 

You can upload your child's physical exam form to Magnus Health at any time. You will find detailed instructions to access your Magnus Health account in this instructional video and this Magnus Health Tutorial PDF. Please do not submit paper copies to our Health Office. 

A physical exam, completed by a physician, is due before the start of school each year. If your child requires an emergency action plan for a health condition or has food or environmental allergies, you must inform the health office before the start of school.

For the safety of all students while on campus, the following medication rules apply: 

• ALL medications your child should take while at school must be discussed with the divisional nurse and stored in the health office. To keep students safe, we need to be aware of any side effects or risks of the medications they take at school. The first dose of any medication cannot be administered at school. 
• Students will only be administered medications from home that are prescribed by a medical provider. 
• SSIS nurses have small quantities of over-the-counter medications that can be administered with parent permission such as antihistamines, panadol, paracetamol, streptosil, etc. 
• Students are not allowed to keep or take their own medications while at school. The only exceptions are emergency medications prescribed to middle or high school students, such as epipens, inhalers, or diabetic medications.* Elementary school students' emergency medications will be stored in the ES nurse's office or carried by CPR/First-Aid trained adults on field trips. 
• Students' medications must be in the original container with the name of the student, name of the medication, dosage, expiration date, and instructions for administration. Medications are to be brought to school by a parent or guardian and given directly to the nurse. 
• Medication that is brought to school by a child will not be administered unless the child has on file they can self-carry an inhaler, insulin, or epipen, etc. All medications require a parent or guardian to complete an Authorization for Medication Administration form.
• For medications needing to be administered multiple times during the day, the first dose must be administered at home. 

*If your child is in high school or middle school and they carry an epipen or inhaler, we require that a backup to be stored in the nursing office in the event of an emergency.
