Parent-Teacher Conferences

Dear Parents and Guardians,

You can sign up for your Parent-Teacher Conferences starting today, September 20, at 9:00 am. Parent-teacher conferences are a very important part of your child’s education at SSIS. Each family is expected to schedule an appointment to meet with their child’s teacher. 

This letter explains everything you need to know to schedule and make the most of your Parent-teacher conference. 

Why Do We Have Parent-Teacher Conferences?

Parent-teacher conferences offer valuable insights into your child’s development and success at SSIS. During conferences, we will:
 

• review your child’s academic progress

• discuss your child’s social and emotional growth

• set goals for your child

• discuss the best ways to support your child in reaching their goals.

Important: Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 should attend the conference with their parents because they will take an active part in the conferences. 

When Are Parent-Teacher Conferences?

Parent-teacher conferences can be scheduled during the following dates and times: 

Thursday, October 10    8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Friday, October 11          8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Each conference is 20 minutes long. Please be on time for your scheduled conference. 

Specialist Teachers

You do not need to schedule a separate conference with your child’s specialist teachers—Art, Dance, PE, Music, Drama, EAL, Learning Support, Library, and Host Country Studies. These teachers will be available in their rooms at the following times on October 10 and 11:

8:15 - 9:45 am
10:15 - 11:45 am
12:45 - 2:15 pm
2:45 - 4:15 pm

How Do I Schedule My Parent-Teacher Conference? 

You must log in to your SchoolsBuddy account to schedule your Parent-Teacher Conference. 

Sign-ups open in SchoolsBuddy at 9:00 am on September 20. Sign-ups will close at 9:00 am on Friday, October 4. Please note that scheduling works on a “first come, first served” basis, so we recommend that you schedule your conference as soon as possible. 

If you cannot meet with your child’s teacher on October 10 or 11, please contact your child’s classroom teacher directly to see if other arrangements can be made. We are expecting every student in the elementary school to have a conference scheduled.

Translation Services

Our Teaching Assistants (TAs) will be available to help translate for Vietnamese speakers, as needed. For other languages, please arrange your own translation, if needed. 

Childcare

Students in EC - Grade 2 should not come to the conferences. As a courtesy to our parent community, SSIS teaching assistants will provide supervision of school-age children during conference appointments.

If you would like to use this childcare service, please bring your child to the ES playground 10 minutes before your conference appointment. Please pick up your child promptly after the conference. If you have children below 3 years old, please make alternative childcare arrangements for them.
