[EC & KG] Interview & Staggered School Start 2024

Dear EC and KG Parents,

Students in Early Childhood (EC) and Kindergarten (KG) will have orientation between August 6 – 9, 2024. 

The orientation has three parts: 

  1. Family Interview
  2. School Year Preparations
  3. Staggered Start Day

1. Family Interview

The family interview allows students to begin the school year in a warm, welcoming, and relaxing environment. All families will attend their family interview on one of two days: August 6 or August 7 (your date to attend—and not attend—is in the email sent by the Elementary School Office on July 30, 2024).

The interview will include a 25-minute conversation with your child’s teacher while your child explores the learning environment with the Teaching Assistants. Please complete this brief “SSIS EC & KG Parent Questionnaire” form as soon as possible before your interview.

2. School Year Preparations

Please use this convenient checklist to make sure your child has everything they need when they begin on their staggered start day. Please complete each item before Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Distributed in the classroom

New students: upload physical examination and immunization records to Magnus Health system; complete all other required health information in Magnus Health system.

Returning students: upload physical examination and any updated vaccinations to Magnus Health system; review and confirm other required health information in Magnus Health system.

Update contact information

  • Update Student/Family Contact Information 

Go to https://ps.ssis.edu.vn/public/ or, if you have not used PowerSchool before, please see instructions here.

You can get help with PowerSchool in the Plaza (inside the turnstiles by the main reception).

School ID Card

  • Get required SSIS ID card

Distributed in the classroom

School supplies

  • Buy school uniform

 

  • Buy school supplies

School uniforms and supplies may be purchased at the school store. The ES supplies list can be found here or in the Elementary School office.

Other services

  • Food service: Deposit money into your child’s meal account (student’s SSIS ID# is required)

 

  • Transportation service: Arrange for bus services

Food service: Go to the Plaza where the Caterers will process your payment. You can also top up your child’s meal balance online. Click here for instructions.

 

Transportation service: Go to the Plaza if you wish to arrange bus service for your child. 

 

3. Staggered Start Day

EC and KG students begin the year in a staggered start as a half class. Beginning the year as a half class lets young children receive individualized attention and transition into their new environment as they are introduced to new school routines. 

Half of your child’s class will attend school on August 8, and the other half on August 9. Your child’s staggered start day can be found in the email sent to you by the Elementary School Office (on July 30, 2024). Beginning on Monday, August 12, ALL EC and KG students will attend class together.
