Dear ES Parents,
We warmly invite you to attend your child’s Learning Journey on Tuesday, March 17.
What Is a Learning Journey?
A Learning Journey is a special time for children to share and reflect on their progress at school with their parents.
The Learning Journey is led by your child and lasts about 90 minutes. It is in two parts:
- Classroom Discussion (60 minutes, scheduled)
- Visit Specialists’ Classrooms (30 minutes, unscheduled)
Families should visit the specialists right before or right after their classroom visit. Specialists will be available: 8:30 am - 11:45 am and 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm.
When and How to Sign Up
Sign-ups are through SchoolsBuddy and begin on Wednesday, February 25, at 9:00 am. Appointments will be filled in the order received, so we recommend scheduling your appointment as soon as possible to get the time you want. Sign-ups will close on Wednesday, March 11, at 9:00 am.

If You Do Not Have a SchoolsBuddy Account
You must use SchoolsBuddy to schedule your appointment. If you cannot access your SchoolsBuddy account, please contact the ICT department (ict@ssis.edu.vn) to request a new activation link. You will not be able to schedule your Learning Journey appointment until your SchoolsBuddy account is activated.
Child Care Service
To allow your child to present their Learning Journey without the distraction of siblings, SSIS is offering to supervise school-aged siblings at the elementary playground during your Learning Journey time. If you would like to use this service, please bring your child’s sibling to the playground 10 minutes before the start of your Learning Journey.
The students are excited and proud to share their learning with their families—thank you for being part of this important event. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, March 17!
Sincerely,
Melanie Sylvester
Principal, Elementary School
More About Learning Journeys
A Learning Journey is a special opportunity for parents and caregivers to see how their child has progressed at school. It is a time for your child to reflect on, celebrate, and share their progress with you.
Please note: this is not a time for a parent-teacher conference. If you would like to have a longer discussion with your child’s teacher, please email them to arrange a separate appointment.
What Is My Child’s Role in the Learning Journey?
Your child’s role is to lead the Learning Journey! Your child will guide you around the classroom, explaining what they have learned and sharing the work they have completed at school. Your child may even “teach” you a few classroom activities.
What Is My Role During the Learning Journey?
As a parent, your primary role during the Learning Journey is to give your child your undivided attention. Ask questions about your child’s work and their learning environment, and respond positively to their efforts in school. We encourage families to use their home language during the Learning Journey.
What Is the Teacher’s Role During the Learning Journey?
Teachers help children prepare for their Learning Journey and set up the classroom for a smooth experience. They are present to guide the process and to support as needed.
Please note that Learning Journeys are dedicated to your child’s presentations, not individual progress reports. If you would like to discuss your child’s academic progress, please email the teacher to schedule a separate meeting.
What Are the Benefits of Learning Journeys?
Learning Journeys give children an opportunity to share and celebrate their learning in a comfortable setting and to take a leading role in the learning and assessment process. Children are proud to share their classroom and schoolwork, and they gain confidence and oral language skills as they communicate their learning with others.
Learning Journeys give you a wonderful opportunity to see, hear, and experience school through your child’s eyes. During your visit, you will be able to see firsthand what your child learns in school and how they learn.
Specialist Classes as Part of Learning Journeys
Your child will take you to their various specialist teacher classes to share their work with you. Please ask your child to lead you to their specialist classes before or after your scheduled Learning Journey.
What Happens After the Learning Journey?
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about your part in your child’s progress, please contact the teachers after your child’s Learning Journey.
Thank you for your support in this important process. We are confident you will enjoy celebrating your child’s achievements and look forward to welcoming you to our classrooms!
