[G4-6] Grades 4-6: New Laptop Support, School Year 2026–2027
Elisia Brodeur

Dear Parents of Current Grade 4 and 5 Students,

As your child continues their learning at SSIS, we are introducing an important new support for the 2026–2027 school year. This reflects our commitment to ensuring that every child's laptop consistently supports learning.

School-managed software — new from August 2026

Starting in August 2026, the SSIS ICT team will manage the operating system (macOS) and educational software on all MacBooks for students in Grades 4-6.

This means the ICT team will install and maintain all the programs your child needs for school, so your family does not have to manage this independently.

Your family still buys and owns the laptop. SSIS only manages the software needed for learning. SSIS does not access, monitor, or store your personal files or private data. You will maintain administrative permissions on the laptop, and all students will have standard permissions.

There is no cost to families for this service. More details are here on our Parent Portal.

At the start of the school year, your child will bring their MacBook to school for a one-time software setup session. We will confirm the specific date and any preparation steps before the end of the current school year.

Optional: home screen time support

For families who would find it useful, we will also offer an option to help manage laptop access at home during certain hours — for example, during homework time or before bed. This is entirely optional and free of charge. We will share more details in the coming months.
