Qualifications

Teachers at SSIS must have full teacher certification and be licensed from an English-speaking country (with the exception of those teaching Spanish and Mandarin Chinese where native fluency is preferred and a teaching license from a country where the language is spoken is accepted).

For elementary teachers, a Master's degree in education or teaching is preferred.
At the middle school and high school levels, a Master's degree in the discipline to be taught is preferred.
For all teachers, qualification, experience, or training in EAL is preferred.

Professional Development

We expect all of our teachers to actively develop their skills, embracing the philosophy of a growth mindset that we teach students. Supported by the school leadership, our faculty have multiple opportunities to attend local internal, and international workshops and conferences to stay current in the latest educational research and teaching practices. Throughout the year, teachers share their newfound knowledge and grow together in inter-departmental, interdisciplinary or grade-level exchanges.

Compensation

The initial contract for international hires is two years. The salary and benefits package are competitive for Vietnam and the region.

A first-year salary will be around VND 1,346,760,000, and benefits include housing (allowance credited monthly), travel allowance, relocation/settling-in allowance, sick leave, personal leave, life insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, retirement allowance, and an annual professional development allowance.

In addition, we offer a tuition waiver for up to two children.

Safe Recruitment

SSIS holds itself to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to safeguarding and child protection. As part of our hiring and employment requirements, all new faculty are required to provide information through a background/criminal record screening and past employment(s) verification. The scope of background check includes, but is not limited to, the check relevant to ID/passport validation, employment, education, criminal, media. A criminal clearance report issued within 6 months from submission date is required from all new faculty and staff prior to their initial employment contract with SSIS.

Substitute Teaching

We maintain a list of experienced, qualified teachers for substitute teaching in each of our divisions. Substitute teachers are expected to:

Implement and follow closely with lesson plans provided by SSIS faculty
Supervise students and create a safe learning environment
Embody our core values and uphold the standards of our school

To be considered, substitute applicants must have:

A valid teaching certificate (or equivalent)
A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
Fluency in English
Prior successful teaching experience at elementary or secondary level at an international school
