PTA Presidents Welcome Letter

Dear Parents & Faculty,

The SSIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome you all to the 2009-2010 school year. As the year quickly gets underway so does our PTA enrollment. Here at SSIS we take pride in our school, and it shows. When you join our PTA, you join a community that encourages student achievement and enriches our children’s learning environment. We believe that building a bridge between our families and our school is key to our children’s academic success. 

Being a member of our PTA also gives your child a voice. We advocate for all children, but the best voice your child can have is yours. Getting involved shows them you care about their education and well-being. Plus, there is no better way to find out what is happening at SSIS than joining the PTA. I strongly urge all members to attend the association meetings and participate in making decisions that affect your child.

As a diverse group of parents and teachers, we come together to support educational and fun activities to all students beyond that of our school budget. Last year the PTA supported activities such as the Art Show, Reading Week, student performances, music concerts, International Day and Sports Day. For the first time ever, the PTA also launched a grants program designed specifically for student-initiated projects and funded the total production cost of the year book through advertising and sales. These are just a few of the fun things we do that enrich the SSIS experience and create lasting memories. 

This year we plan to do something special for the school itself.  We have been reserving money to build a showcase that will proudly display school accolades, student awards, sports trophies, etc.  We are working with the administrative team and hope to have this in place this school year. 

From the first day of school through September 30th, we will be collecting PTA Dues so we warmly invite you to become an active member. We are always looking for new faces and fresh ideas. Together, we can make a difference.

The PTA membership dues is 600,000 VND per family. Simply fill out the envelope sent home with the PTA invoice and return with your cash payment (in the envelope provided) to the SSIS Bookkeeper, Ms. Trang, in the Business Office before October 1st.  We will also have a PTA collection table near the Admissions Office from August 12-14th and August 17-18th from 7:45-8:15am and 2:45-3:15pm.

Included in this packet are (1) the Event & Meeting Info and Schedule, (2) the list of Proposed PTA Committees, (3) the Volunteer Sign-Up Form, and (4) the new school calendar. Thanks to those who have already volunteered to help or chair a committee. Please remember no matter where your talents or interests lie, there is a place for you in the SSIS PTA!
