Library
The SSIS Libraries are student-focused facilities designed to support the intellectual, educational, recreational and cultural life of our community.Click here to acces the Online Library Catalog.
Philosophy:
The Libraries aim to foster learning and literacy that leads to high academic achievement, independent reading, and collaboration throughout the school.Mission:
The Library program strives to ensure that students are effective and reflective users of ideas and information, and encourages library users to develop a love of reading.
Our Libraries are managed by certified Teacher-Librarians, who are fully qualified
in both teaching and librarianship, and who are responsible for efficient library
operation, resourcing, and organization.
Five principles guide our Library operations:
- Information literacy - The school libraries are supportive of both staff and students in the development of an information-literate school community.
- Service - The school libraries are managed by professional staff which provides support for the entire school community.
- Reading - The school libraries form a foundation for the school’s literacy programs and act as a catalyst for the development of lifelong readers.
- Access - The school libraries are teaching and learning hubs, with organized systems for accessing and managing information and resources.
- Information resources - The range and quality of resources in the libraries are collaboratively identified, selected and managed to meet the curricular and extra-curricular needs of the school.

In line with twenty-first century modes of information retrieval, management
and storage, our libraries strive to provide collections which reflect eclectic
resources, supported by access to electronic storehouses at the local, national
and international levels.
The selection criteria for our libraries include resources based on IB expectations,
curriculum standards, popular reading material, as well as mother-tongue language
and host-country recognition. The library collections are regularly reviewed
and extended in consultation with the school community.
The libraries are open throughout the school day. Members of the school community
may borrow between 7.45 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
