Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Today's world has been transformed by information technologies. Learning to use technology is only one facet of a student's education. More importantly, information literacy - the ability to use the information that new technologies make available- is a critical learning experience. Students must acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to access, evaluate, use and communicate information efficiently and effectively.
ICT Mission
The technology mission of SSIS is to integrate technology into all aspects of the school to facilitate student learning and provide instructional support to:
- Produce life-long learners
- Enhance communication
- Promote critical thinking and problem-solving
- Promote flexibility and collaboration
- Instill ethical and responsible behavior
At SSIS, technology is integrated into classrooms and into students’ everyday educational experiences.
SSIS strongly believes that the combination of appropriate infrastructure, comprehensive training and good instructional design enhances student learning and achievement. Ongoing curriculum updates and improvements combined with technology training for students makes sure that students keep pace with the rapid evolution of technology.
Students and teachers use computers extensively for doing research and presenting information, for lab experiments, for communication and for other instructional purposes. At SSIS we want our students to be efficient and knowledgeable users of all forms of technology including computers, graphing calculators, data loggers, and web 2.0 functions.
Every teacher has his/her own class web pages on Edline, which includes information about their classes, homework, assignments, news and other information. Parents and students can log in and view the pages related to their classes.
SSIS strongly promotes ethical and moral values among its students. All students, faculty and staff must abide by the SSIS Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Acceptable Use Policy.
