Kindergarten: Mathematics
The Everyday Math program helps children become effective problem solvers and thinkers. In kindergarten, students are introduced to the math manipulatives they will be using throughout their elementary years, such as Unifix cubes, geoboards and pattern blocks. Students participate in hands-on experiences to develop their understanding of mathematical concepts. Classroom instruction includes graphs, daily calendar time, introduction and practice of concepts through math games and activities, and regular use of math-related songs and literature to reinforce learning.Students in Kindergarten will be provided experiences in:
- Counting, numeral recognition and number sense
- Problem-solving
- Beginning addition and subtraction
- Measurement
- Shapes
- Graphing
- Patterns
