Grade 4: Mathematics
Computational fluency is a primary goal in grade four, while number sense and operations continue to be developed and strengthened. Students are encouraged to develop computational fluency, use strategies for problem solving and begin to recognize the connectedness of mathematical topics and procedures. Manipulatives are used to provide concrete examples of abstract concepts.Resources:

Students who successfully complete the grade four mathematics program will be able to:
- Understand and use place value
- Complete whole number operations with regrouping
- Understand and use lines, line segments and rays
- Coordinate graphing and location of points on a grid
- Use ordered pairs
- Classify triangles
- Understand fractions of a whole number and parts of a whole
- Compare and order fractions
- Read, write and compare decimals to hundredths place
- Complete operations involving time and money
- Demonstrate a beginning understanding of the use of graphs and data interpretation
- Demonstrate a beginning understanding of probability within the context of spinners and dice
