Social Studies Goals
The grade two social studies program seeks to deepen the understanding of community, geography, history and culture. Concepts of community rules and responsibilities, as well as goods and services are investigated. The students work on various cross-curricular units that encompass an exploration and inquiry of the Vietnamese, Chinese and the student's native culture. Students learn how Vietnamese and Chinese people adapt to the region in which they live, as well as what customs, rituals, beliefs and values define them.Resources:

Students who successfully complete the grade two social studies program will:
- Understand that communities evolve over time
- Understand that communities are governed by leaders
- Understand that life is different in rural and urban places
- Understand the interdependency between goods, services and resources
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic mapping skills
- Explore Vietnamese and Chinese culture
