Letter from Director of Admissions

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in Saigon South International School. We are truly an international school with students from ages 3 - 18 representing 30 nationalities and a professional staff of 76 from 12 countries.  Our school population is over 700 students.

High academic standards are reinforced in a caring and supportive atmosphere which supports students in identifing connections between their learning and real world experiences. Relevance and the ability to communicate understanding are important aspects of student success for SSIS students.  Our curriculum is based upon an American program of studies.  Class averages of 20 students ensure that all students receive the personalized instruction necessary for success.  Our aim is to have a student body that exemplifies our core values and strives for excellence. We are educating the global leaders of tomorrow.

The school seeks to attract and admit students who can benefit from the educational program we offer and who are in agreement with our core values of Academic Excellence, Balance in Life, Sense of Self, Dedicated Service and Respect for All. Students who benefit most are already fluent in English and familiar with the North American or international school educational system.

Students are considered for admission based on available space, their academic potential, and their parents’ commitment toward their child’s education in a school where the language of instruction is English. As an international school committed to diversity, the school’s admissions policy seeks to ensure a balance of cultures and nationalities in each class.

For students who are not fluent in English, SSIS has limited spaces in our ESL program.  Development of reading and writing proficiency for academic success, as well as oral and listening communication skills, form the basis of instruction within our ESL classes. All admissions of students entering our ESL program will include a review cycle where continuing at SSIS will be based on progress in English.

Please note that all requested information and application documents must be submitted before the admissions process can begin. Once the application is complete and all materials are received, the Admissions Committee will make a decision. Because many of our classes reach capacity early in the school year, it is important to submit applications as soon as possible.

Our school video on this website does a good job in presenting an overview of SSIS, but nothing is better than seeing the school for yourself.
